What is Gond?
Gond is a Hindi word for edible gum. Gond or edible gum is extensively used in dishing out nutritionally packed preparations; one of its most traditional uses in India is making nutritious Ladoo that are usually eaten by pregnant and lactating women and by those healing from an illness.
Gond or edible gum has long been used as a binding and a thickening agent by the food and pharmaceutical industry.
Edible Gum or Gond is sourced from the plant Acacia. is a natural edible gum of the plant. It is made by drying the plant sap and is available in white or brown colored crystals. It is pretty odorless and tasteless.
The Ladoo are traditionally made with desi ghee, wheat flour, and seeds and nuts like dried melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashew nuts, walnut, pistachios, and poppy seeds must-have.

Gond Ke Laddu Recipe | How to make Gond Ladoo at Home | Edible Gum Laddu Recipe
Materials
- 250 grams Ghee
- 100 grams Gond/Edible Gum/Dink
- 25 grams Cashew Nuts
- 25 grams Almonds
- 2 tbsp Raisins
- 4 tbsp Lotus seeds
- 1/2 cup Desiccated Coconut
- 200 gms Wheat Flour
- 300 gms Gud/Jaggery
- 2 tbsp Water
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
Instructions
- To make Perfect Gond Ke Laddu, place a heavy-based pan on flame, add 2 tbsp of ghee to it and melt.
- After ghee melts little by little, add 100 grams of Gond/Edible Gum/Dinkh and stir continuedly and fry until golden.
- After Gond turns golden, transfer it to a plate and fry the next batch.
- Now into the pan, add cashew and almonds, and fry well on low flame until golden.
- Now, take out almonds and cashew into a plate.
- Now, add raisins into the pan and fry well.
- Now transfer the raising into the plate.
- Now, into the pan, add lotus seeds and fry well until golden and crisp.
- After the lotus seeds turn golden and crispy, transfer the lotus seeds to the plate.
- Now, first clean the pan, add 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut, and dry roast until golden on low flame.
- After the coconut turns golden, turn off the flame and transfer it to a plate.
- Now, after Gond turns cool, crush it lightly using a roller pin or crusher.
- Now, take a grinding Jar, add cashew & almonds into it, grind on the pulse, and make a coarse powder.
- Now transfer the powder to the plate.
- Now, add crushed Lotus seeds into the jar, grind well, and make a coarse powder.
- Now, transfer the powder to the plate.
- Now, place a pan on flame and add 2 tbsp of ghee to it and melt well.
- Now add 200 grams wheat flour, mix well, and roast on low flame for 7-8 minutes until golden.
- After flour turns golden, turn off the flame transfer it to a plate.
- Now, place the pan on flame again and add 350 grams of crushed jaggery, 1 tbsp of ghee, 2 tbsp of water, and melt the jaggery well.
- After jaggery starts boiling, turn off the flame, add roasted wheat flour, dry fruits, and mix well and stir continuously.
- Now add crushed Gond, 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder, 1 tbsp of ghee, and mix well on-off flame.
- After the mix is a little cool, take small portion of the mixture and prepare a laddu.
- Now, prepare Laddu from the remaining mix.
- Now your Gond Laddu is entirely ready, and you can enjoy them.
