Ingredients of Ukdiche Modak Recipe 

  • Ghee – 1 tsp 
  • Poppy seeds – 1 tsp 
  • Dry fruits – 1 tsp 
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup 
  • Crushed Jaggery – 1/2 cup 
  • Cardamom Powder – 1/2 tsp 
  • Grated Nutmeg
  • Water – 2 cup 
  • Salt – 1/4 tsp 
  • Ghee – 1 tsp 
  • Rice Flour – 1.5 cup 
  • Saffron milk & Saffron Strands

In this post, I will share an easy and step-by-step recipe to make the perfect Ukdiche Modak at Your Home.

Materials

  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp Dry fruits
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup  Crushed Jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • Grated Nutmeg
  • 2 cup Water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1.5 cup Rice Flour
  • Saffron milk & Saffron Strands 

Instructions

  • To make Ukdiche Modak, first place a pan on flame, add 1 tsp of ghee and melt.
  • After ghee, melts add 1 tsp poppy seeds, and roast until it turns little pink.
  • After some time, add 1 tsp of chopped dry fruits and mix well and roast.
  • Now add 1 cup of grated coconut, mix well, and roast everything well on low flame.
  • After 2 minutes, add 1/2 cup of crushed jaggery and mix everything well and melt the jaggery.
  • After the mix starts leaving the pan and jaggery and mix well, turn off the flame.
  • Now add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder, grated nutmeg, and mix everything well.
  • Now transfer the mix to a bowl and let it cool.
  • Now again, place a pan on flame and add 2 cups of water, 1 tsp of ghee, 1/4 tsp of salt, and boil.
  • After the water starts boiling, add 1.5 cups of rice flour and mixes well on low flame.
  • Now turn off the flame and close the lid for 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, remove the lid and transfer the mix to a bowl.
  • Now add 1 tsp of ghee, knead the dough for 3-4 minutes with your hands, and prepare a smooth dough.
  • Now, cover the dough with a cloth.
  • Now, take a Modak mould and grease it with ghee.
  • Now, fill white Modak dough into the mould and make little space to fill the stuffing.
  • Now add stuffing in Modak and close it by adding some dough again.
  • Now, open the Modak mould and take out Modak on a plate.
  • Now, one by one, prepare all Modak with remaining dough and stuffing.
  • If you want to make Modak without Modak, take a small portion of dough and roll it with the help of a roller pin.
  • Now make it like a bowl and fill stuffing into it.
  • Now, close it from all sides, and your Modak is ready.
  • Now, to steam the Modak, take a steamer plate and grease it with ghee.
  • Now, place a pan on flame and add water to it and boil well.
  • Now, place all Modak on the steamer plate.
  • Now, place the steamer on the pan, close the lid, and steam the Modak for 15 Modak.
  • After 15 minutes, turn off the flame, remove the lid, and let the Modak cool.
  • Now garnish the Modak with saffron milk and saffron strands.
  • Now your Steamed Ukdiche Modak is entirely ready.

Ukdiche Modak Recipe – Step By Step

6 – After the mix starts leaving the pan and jaggery and mix well, turn off the flame.
7 – Now add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder, grated nutmeg, and mix everything well.

8 – Now transfer the mix to a bowl and let it cool.
9 – Now again, place a pan on flame and add 2 cups of water, 1 tsp of ghee, 1/4 tsp of salt, and boil.

10 – After the water starts boiling, add 1.5 cups of rice flour and mixes well on low flame.

11 – Now turn off the flame and close the lid for 5 minutes.

12 – After 5 minutes, remove the lid and transfer the mix to a bowl.
13 – Now add 1 tsp of ghee, knead the dough for 3-4 minutes with your hands, and prepare a smooth dough.

14 – Now, cover the dough with a cloth.
15 – Now, take a Modak mould and grease it with ghee.
16 – Now, fill white Modak dough into the mould and make little space to fill the stuffing.

17 – Now add stuffing in Modak and close it by adding some dough again.
18 – Now, open the Modak mould and take out Modak on a plate.
