Bhakarwadi Recipe | How to make Bhakarwadi at Home | Maharashtrian Snack Recipe
Materials
- All-purpose flour – 2 cups
- Gram flour – 3 tbsp
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Carom Seed – 1 tsp
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Cumin Seed – 1 tbsp
- Coriander Seed – 2 tbsp
- Sesame seeds – 1.5 tbsp
- Fennel seeds – 2 tbsp
- Desiccated coconut – 2 tbsp
- Red Chili Powder – 2 tsp
- Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Ginger Powder – 2 tsp
- Salt – 1.5 tsp
- Sugar – 3 tbsp
- Tamarind – 3 tbsp
- Crushed Jaggery – 4 tbsp
- Water – 3/4 cup
- Black Salt – 1/4 tsp
- Red Chili Powder
- Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
Instructions
- To make the perfect Bhakarwadi, take 2 cups of all-purpose flour on a wide plate(you can also take 1 cup of wheat flour and 1 cup of all-purpose flour).
- Next step – add 3 tbsp of gram flour, 1/2 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of carom seeds, and mix everything well.
- Next step – add 4 tbsp of oil and mix well with your hands.
- Next step – add water in batches and prepare a semi-soft dough.
- Next step – cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
- Next step – place a pan on flame, add 1 tbsp of cumin seeds, 2 tbsp of coriander seeds, 1/5 tbsp of sesame seeds, 2 tbsp of fennel seeds, and 2 tbsp of desiccated coconut, and roast well on low flame.
- After the mix turns aromatic, turn off the flame and transfer the pan to the platform.
- Next step – add 2 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp of asafoetida, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 2 tsp of ginger powder, and 1.5 tsp of salt, and mix everything well.
- Next step – take a grinding jar, add prepared masala, 3 tbsp of sugar, and make a coarse powder.
- Next step – check the dough, sprinkle some oil, and knead well.
- Next step – prepare small balls with the dough.
- Next step – take a ball, roll it to medium thick Roti and cut it into a squire shape.
- Next step – apply tamarind chutney on the prepared Roti and do not spread the chutney till the end like in the following image.
- Next step – Sprinkle Prepared Masala and gently roll it with the help of a roller pin.
- Next step – apply some water on the edges.
- Next step – tightly roll the Roti and seal the edges well.
- Next step – cut the roll into small pieces.
- Next step – prepare the Bakharwadi with the remaining dough and masala and let them dry for 5 minutes.
- Next step – place a pan on flame, add oil for frying, and heat well.
- After the oil is hot, add prepared Bakharwadi into the oil and fry well on low to medium flame until golden and crispy.
- After the Bakharwadi turns golden and crispy, transfer them to a plate and fry the next batch.
- Now, your perfect Bakharwadi is completely ready, and you can enjoy it.
