Ukdiche Modak Recipe | How to make Ukdiche Modak | Stemmed Modak Recipe
Materials
- 1 tsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Poppy seeds
- 1 tsp Dry fruits
- 1 cup Grated coconut
- 1/2 cup Crushed Jaggery
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
- Grated Nutmeg
- 2 cup Water
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Ghee
- 1.5 cup Rice Flour
- Saffron milk & Saffron Strands
Instructions
- To make Ukdiche Modak, first place a pan on flame, add 1 tsp of ghee and melt.
- After ghee, melts add 1 tsp poppy seeds, and roast until it turns little pink.
- After some time, add 1 tsp of chopped dry fruits and mix well and roast.
- Now add 1 cup of grated coconut, mix well, and roast everything well on low flame.
- After 2 minutes, add 1/2 cup of crushed jaggery and mix everything well and melt the jaggery.
- After the mix starts leaving the pan and jaggery and mix well, turn off the flame.
- Now add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder, grated nutmeg, and mix everything well.
- Now transfer the mix to a bowl and let it cool.
- Now again, place a pan on flame and add 2 cups of water, 1 tsp of ghee, 1/4 tsp of salt, and boil.
- After the water starts boiling, add 1.5 cups of rice flour and mixes well on low flame.
- Now turn off the flame and close the lid for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes, remove the lid and transfer the mix to a bowl.
- Now add 1 tsp of ghee, knead the dough for 3-4 minutes with your hands, and prepare a smooth dough.
- Now, cover the dough with a cloth.
- Now, take a Modak mould and grease it with ghee.
- Now, fill white Modak dough into the mould and make little space to fill the stuffing.
- Now add stuffing in Modak and close it by adding some dough again.
- Now, open the Modak mould and take out Modak on a plate.
- Now, one by one, prepare all Modak with remaining dough and stuffing.
- If you want to make Modak without Modak, take a small portion of dough and roll it with the help of a roller pin.
- Now make it like a bowl and fill stuffing into it.
- Now, close it from all sides, and your Modak is ready.
- Now, to steam the Modak, take a steamer plate and grease it with ghee.
- Now, place a pan on flame and add water to it and boil well.
- Now, place all Modak on the steamer plate.
- Now, place the steamer on the pan, close the lid, and steam the Modak for 15 Modak.
- After 15 minutes, turn off the flame, remove the lid, and let the Modak cool.
- Now garnish the Modak with saffron milk and saffron strands.
- Now your Steamed Ukdiche Modak is entirely ready.

Ukdiche Modak Recipe – Step By Step
