Materials
- 1/4 cup Peanuts
- 1 tbsp Coriander seeds –
- 2 tsp Sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp Desiccated coconut
- 2 tsp Poppy seeds
- 2 Chopped Onion
- 3-4 Dry red chilli
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- Salt as per taste
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Cumin Powder
- 15-20 Small Onion
- 2 tsp Tamarind paste
- 2 cup Water
- Kasuri Methi
- Coriander Leaves
Instructions
- To make Onion Salan First place a pan on flame and add 1/4 cup of peanuts, 1 tbsp of coriander seeds, 2 tsp of white sesame seeds, 1 tbsp of desiccated coconut, 2 tsp of poppy seeds.
- Now, roast everything on low, medium flame; it turns aromatic.
- After all ingredients are lightly roasted, add two chopped onions, 3-4 dry red chilli, and roast well.
- After the mix turns aromatic, turn off the flame and allows all the mixture to cool down.
- After the mix has cooled, transfer the mix to a grinding jar, 4 tbsp of water, grind well, and make a fine paste.
- Now, place a pan on flame, add 2 tbsp of sesame oil, and heat well.
- Now, on medium flame, add 1 tsp of mustard seeds, 1 tsp of cumin seeds, curry leaves, and roast a little.
- After some time, add gravy paste, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and mix well and fry well on medium flame until it releases the oil.
- After the gravy starts releasing the oil, add salt as per taste, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, 1 tsp of cumin powder, and mix everything well and cook for 2 minutes on low, medium flame.
- Now add two slits green chilli and mix well.
- Now add 15-20 small onions ( You can also use big onions; just cut them into small pieces) and mix well and fry.
- After 2 minutes, add 2 tsp of tamarind pulp and mix well.
- Now add 2 cups of water and mix well.
- Now cover the lid and cook until the onion is cooked perfectly and gravy consistency is perfect.
- After the onion is cooked perfectly and the consistency of the gravy, turn off the flame and add Kasuri methi and chopped coriander.
