Materials
- Tur/Arhar Dal -1 Cup
- Green gram – 1/4 Cup( 4 to 5 tbsp)
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- Bay Leaf – 2
- Green Cardamom – 1
- Cloves – 2
- Ghee – 1 tsp
For Special Tadka 1
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Coriander Seed – 1 tsp
- Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
- Dried Red Chili – 2
- Chopped Onion – 2
- Chopped Garlic – 10 to 15
- Chopped Green Chili – 2 to 3
- Chopped Ginger – 1 inch
- Turmeric – 1/2 ts
- Kashmiri Red Chili Powder – 1 tsp
- Chopped Tomato – 3
- Salt as per Taste
- Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
- Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
For Special Tadka 2
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds
- Chopped Garlic – 1 tsp
- Dried Red Chili – 2
- Kashmiri Red Chili Powder – 1 tsp
- Chopped Coriander
- Chopped Green Chili
- Chopped Ginger
Instructions
- To make the perfect Dal Tadka, add 1 cup of Toor Dal, and 1/4 cup of moong dal into a bowl and wash them well.
- Next step – soak both lentils for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, place a cooker on flame, remove the water and add soaked lentils into the cooker.
- Next step – add water(so much water that the dal is immersed in it), 1 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, two bay leaves, one green cardamom, & 2 cloves, and stir well.
- Next step – add 1 tsp of ghee, apply ghee on the inside part of the whistle, close the lid and cook until 1.5 whistles.
- After a 1.5 whistle, turn off the flame and let the pressure release completely.
- Next step – place a kadhai on flame, add 2 tbsp of ghee, and 1 tsp of oil, and melt.
- After the ghee melts, add 1 tsp of cumin seeds, 1 tsp of coriander seeds, 1/4 tsp of asafoetida, two dry red chillies, and two chopped onions, and roast on high flame.
- After the onion turns little pink, add 10-15 grated garlic cloves, 2-3 chopped green chilli, and 1 inch of ginger, and roast well.
- After some time, add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, and one tsp of Kashmiri red chilli powder, and mix well.
- Next step – add three chopped tomatoes, and salt as per taste, and cook on medium-high flame.
- After the gravy releases the oil, add 2 tsp of coriander powder, 1 tsp of cumin powder, little water and mix everything well.
- Next step – add boiled lentils, and hot water as required and cook until a boil.
- Next step – place a tempering pan on flame, add 1 tbsp of ghee, and melt.
- After the ghee melts, add little cumin seeds, 1 tsp of chopped garlic, and two dry red chillies, and mix well.1
- Next step – turn off the flame, add 1 tbsp of Kashmiri red chilli powder and mix well.
- Next step – add prepared tempering on the cooked Dal, turn off the flame and close the lid for 1 minute.
- After 1 minute, remove the lid and garnish your Dal with chopped coriander, chopped ginger & chopped green chilli.
- Now your Perfect Dal Tadka is completely ready, and you can enjoy it.
