Besan Dhokla Recipe | How to make Besan Dhokla at Home | Gujrati Dhokla Recipe
Materials
- Gram flour – 1 cup
- Semolina – 1 cup
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- Green chilli paste – 1 tsp
- Grated ginger – 1 tsp
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Curd – 1 cup
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Coriander – 1 cup
- Mint – 1/4 cup
- Green chilli – 3 to 4
- Ginger – 1-inch
- Garlic – 3 to 4 pieces
- Cumin Seed – 1 tsp
- Black Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Fresh lemon juice – 2 tbsp
- Curd – 1 tbsp
- Fruit salt – 1 sachet
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Mustard Seed / Sarso – 1 tsp
- Slitted green chillies
- Curry Leaves Sesame – 1 tsp
- Chopped Coriander
Instructions
- To make the perfect Besan Dhokla, take a bowl, add 1 cup of gram flour, and 1 cup of fine semolina.
- Next step – add 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, one pinch of asafoetida, 1 tsp of green chilli paste, 1 tsp of grated ginger, and 1 tsp of sugar.
- Next step – add 1 cup of curd and mix everything well.
- Next step – little by little, add water as required and prepare medium thick consistency batter.
- Next step – add 1 tsp of oil and whisk well for 3-4 minutes.
- After whisking the batter, cover the batter and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, check the batter and whisk well again.
- Next step – place a Kadhai on flame, add water, and boil with a closed lid.
- Next step – add one sachet of Eno, little water, and mix well in one direction.
- Next step – pour the prepared batter into a greased tray and sprinkle the red chilli powder.
- After the water boils, place the Dhokla tray on the Kadhai.
- Next step – cover the Kadhai with the help of a bowl/lid and cook well for 15 minutes on high flame.
- After 15 minutes, turn off the flame and check the dhokla with the help of a toothpick/knife.
- Next step – transfer the dhokla tray to a platform and let it cool.
- Next step -place a small pan on flame, add 1 tbsp of oil, and heat well.
- After the oil is hot, add 1 tsp of mustard seeds, slit green chilli, curry leaves, and one tsp of sesame seeds.1
- Next step – turn off the flame and pour the tempering on the prepared dhokla.
- Next step – cut the dhokla and serve it.

Dhokla Chutney
- Take a grinding jar, add 1 cup of coriander, 1/4 cup of mint leaves, 3-4 green chilli, 1 inch of ginger, 3-4 garlic cloves, 1 tsp of cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp of black salt, 1 tsp of salt.
- Next step – add 2 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tbsp of curd, and little water.
- Next step – grind everything well and make a fine paste.
- Now your perfect Dhokla Chutney is ready, and you can enjoy it with Besan Dhokla.
