Hotel Style Idli Sambar Recipe | Idli Sambar Recipe | How to make Idli Sambar at Home
Materials
For Idli Recipe
- Semolina – 1 cup
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Curd – 1 cup
- ENO Fruit salt – 1 sachet
For Sambar Recipe
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Mustard Seed/Sarso – 1 tsp
- Cumin Seed/Jeera – 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida/Hing – 2 pinch
- Fenugreek Seed – 1/4 tsp
- Curry Leaf/Kari Patta
- Chopped Onion – 1
- Slited Green chilli – 4
- Chopped Tomato – 2
- Pumpkin – 1/4 cup
- Bottle gourd – 1/4 cup
- Carrot – 1/4 cup
- Beans – 1/4 cup
- Chopped Onion – 1
- Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Sambar Masala – 2 tbsp
- Red gram/Toor dal – 1/4 cup
- Tamarind water – 1/4 cup
Instructions
Idli Recipe
- To make Perfect Idli, take a bowl and add 1 cup of semolina to it.
- Now add 1/2 tsp of salt, 1 cup of curd, 2 tsp of oil(super hotel secret), and mix well.
- Now, close the lid and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Now, place an Idli Stand on flame, add water to it, close the lid, and boil.
- Now check the batter and add one sachet of Eno fruit salt, water to activate it, and mix well.
- Now take greased Mould and fill Idli batter in molds.
- After the water starts boiling, Place the Idli Molds on Idli Stands.
- Now close the lid and steam Idli for 14-15 minutes on medium flame.
- After 14-15 minutes, turn off the flame and prick a toothpick in Idli; if the toothpick came out clean, this means the Idli is cooked Perfectly.
- Now, take out Idli Moulds and let it cool.
- After Idli has cool-down, de-mold Idli with the help of Spoon.
- Now your Perfect Idli is ready to enjoy.
Sambhar Recipe
- To make a Perfect Sambar, place a cooker on flame, add 1 tbsp of oil, and heat well.
- After the hot oil, add 1 tsp of mustard and let it crackle.
- After Mustard seeds start crackling, add 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, two pinches of asafoetida, 1/4 tsp of fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, and mix well on low flame.
- Now add one chopped onion and saute until it turns translucent.
- After the onion, turns translucent and four slits green chilli and saute well.
- Now add two chopped tomatoes, salt as per taste, and cook on low flame.
- After tomatoes turn soft, add 1/4 cup of pumpkin, 1/4 cup of bottle gourd, 1/4 cup of carrot, 1/4 cup of beans, one chopped onion( you can choose vegetable as per choice), mix well and cook.
- After vegetables are roasted a little, add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, 2 tbsp of sambar masala, and mix well and roast.
- After some time, add 1/4 cup of soaked Toor Dal(soak it for 15 minutes into water) and mix well.
- Now add 3 cups of water, 1/4 cup of tamarind water(add lemon juice or dry mango powder in place of tamarind powder) and mix well.
- Now, close the lid and cook until four whistles on medium flame.
- After four whistles, turn off the flame and release the steam completely.
- After steam releases, open the lid, check the Sambar, and mash all vegetables with a spoon.
- Now garnish it with chopped coriander and mix well.
- Now, place a tempering pan on flame, add 1 tbsp of oil, and heat well.
- After the oil is hot, add two dry red chilies, curry leaves, and turn off the flame.
- Now pour the tempering on the prepared Sambar, and your Hotel Style Sambar is ready.

Idli Sambar Recipe – Step By Step
Idli Recipe
