Materials
- All Purpose Flour – 2 cup
- Salt – 2 pinch
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Add Water
- Sugar – 1.5 cup
- Add Water – 3/4 cup
- Cardamom – 2 pcs
- Saffron Strands
- Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
- Mawa – 200 gm
- Cashew Pistachio, Almonds
- Desiccated Coconut – 1 tsp
- Cardamom Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Saffron Strands
- Sugar Powder – 4 tbsp
- Clove
- Oil for Fry
Instructions
- In a wide plate, mix 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 pinches of salt, and 2 tbsp of ghee until well combined.
- Gradually add water and knead into a firm dough. Cover and let it rest for a while.
- Heat a wide pan on medium flame and add 1.5 cups of sugar with ¾ cup of water. Stir until the sugar melts, then add 2 cardamoms and saffron strands. Cook until the syrup becomes sticky.
- Turn off the flame, add 1 tsp of lemon juice, mix well, and set aside.
- Heat a pan and add 200 grams of crushed mawa. Cook on medium flame until aromatic. Transfer to a plate and let it cool slightly.
- Add chopped dry fruits, 1 tbsp desiccated coconut, ¼ tsp cardamom powder, saffron strands, and 4 tbsp powdered sugar. Mix well to form a rich stuffing.
- Knead the rested dough once more and divide it into small balls.
- Roll each ball into a medium-thickness disc. Place some prepared stuffing in the center, fold, and seal the edges as shown in the reference image.
- Flip it over, fold from the back, and insert a clove (laung) to secure. Repeat with the remaining dough and stuffing.
- Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. Once hot, add the prepared Laung Lata and fry until golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oil and immediately dip them into the warm sugar syrup for a few minutes.
- Your delicious Laung Lata is now ready! Serve warm and enjoy this crispy, sweet treat.
