To make the perfect coconut paag, take a dry coconut and grate it with the help of a medium-sized grater.
Next step: place a pan on medium heat, add 1/3 cup of melon seeds, and roast for 1-2 minutes. After 1-2 minutes, turn off the flame and transfer the roasted melon seeds to a plate.
Next step: add grated coconut to the pan and roast well for 1-2 minutes. After 1-2 minutes, transfer the roasted coconut to a plate.
Next step: add 2 tbsp of almonds and 2 tbsp of poppy seeds and roast well for 1 minute. After 1 minute, turn off the flame and transfer the mixture to a plate.
Next step: in a big plate, add roasted coconut, melon seeds, almonds, poppy seeds, cardamom powder, 1/4 tsp of nutmeg, and 1/4 tsp of pepper powder, and mix everything well.
Next step: place a pan on the flame, add 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water, stir continuously, and melt the sugar.
After the sugar consistency becomes one-string consistency, turn the flame to low, add the prepared coconut paag mixture, and mix everything well.
After the coconut paag mixture leaves the pan, turn off the flame and transfer the coconut paag mixture onto a greased plate.
Next step: spread the coconut paag and let it rest for some time. After some time, cut the coconut paag into small pieces and let it set.
Next step: rotate the coconut paag-plate on the flame. Next step: gently demold the coconut paag.
