Dabeli is a spicy snack prepared from pav and dabeli stuffing. In this way we can prepare Vrat wali Dabeli.The stuffing is prepared by mixing boiled mashed potatoes and with other indian spices. This is very instant recipe & easy to make.These stuffings is then placed in between the pav with green chutney, imli chutney . Dabeli is popular street food of gujarat and maharashtra, but very well popular all over india. it is usually served during breakfast and for evening snacks.

To prepare batter
Sama rice – 1 cup
Tapioca/Sago – 1/4 cup
Curd – 3/4 cup
Water – 1/2 cup

To prepare Aloo Masala
Ghee/Oil – 2 tbsp
Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Grated ginger – 1 tsp
Chopped Green Chilli – 2
Pepper Powder – 1/2 tsp
Boiled mashed potato – 2
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Rock Salt – 1 tsp
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Fresh grated coconut – 1 tsp
Roasted peanuts – 1 tbsp
Pomegranate seeds – 2 tbsp
Finely chopped coriander
Rock Salt – 1 tsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Eno fruit salt – 1 sachet
Vrat green chutni


  • To make Vrat Wale Dabeli.
  • Add sama rice,tapioca into grinder and make fine powder.
  • Transfer mix into a bowl.
  • Add curd,Water,mix well & prepare batter.
  • Keep idly batter consistency.
  • Close lid and keep aside.
  • Lets prepare Dabeli Aloo Masala.
  • Take a kadhai add oil/ghee.
  • Add Cumin Seeds,Grated ginger,Chopped Green Chilli & Fry on low flame.
  • Add Pepper Powder,Boiled mashed potato and mix well & cook on low medium flame.
  • After 1 min add Sugar and Mix well.
  • Add Rock Salt and mix well.
  • Add Lemon juice,Fresh grated coconut,Roasted peanuts and turn off flame.
  • Add Pomegranate seeds,Finely chopped coriander and mix well.
  • Transfer into bowl.
  • Take a kadhai or steamer.
  • Add 2 glass of Water,place a stand and close lid and boil water.
  • Take a tin/plate/bowl.
  • Grease with oil.
  • Check the batter,add water if required.
  • Add Rock Salt,Oil and mix well.
  • Add eno fruit salt,add water to activate it and mix gently.
  • Transfer batter into greased tin.
  • Place tin in steamer/kadhai and let it steam for 10 mins.
  • Steam on high flame for 4 mins and 6 mins on low flame.
  • Check after 10 mins.
  • Check with knife if cooked well.If it comes out cleans it is perfectly cooked.
  • Let it cool and remove from the tin.
  • Separate edges with knife and take out of tin.
  • Cut into square pieces.
  • Take one piece and Cut in middle not till edges.
  • Fill with chutni and dabeli aloo masala.
  • Garnish with chutney/peanuts/coriander.
  • Vrat Wali Dabeli is ready to serve..Enjoy!!!
