BENGALI KHICHDI|BHAJA MUGER KHICHURI|BENGALI KHICHURI RECIPE

Bengali Khichdi is a traditional dish of Bengali cuisine and is quite popular during Durga Puja. This is an easy-to-make one-pot meal that you can make for your family and friends on special occasions and festivals like kitty party , pot luck. Halwa is also popular in the festival.It can be made in different ways.Different Vrat recipes are also there for festival like dabeli , vrat crispy bites , kala chana , idli rings etc

महानवमी दुर्गापूजा प्रसाद वाली खिचड़ी जिसका लाजबाब स्वाद मुँह से नहीं जायेगा Prasad Bengali Khichdi

INGREDIENTS
Split Gram(Moong dal) – 1 cup
Basmati Rice – 1 cup
Ghee/Oil – 2 tbsp
Cauliflower – 1 cup
Chopped Potato – 1 cup
Chopped Tomato – 2
Ginger – 1 inch
Green chilli – 2
Ghee/Oil – 2 tbsp
Cloves – 4
Cinnamon stick – 1
Green cardamom – 2
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Bay leaf – 2
Dry Red chilli – 2
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Warm water – 1.5 litres(6 cups)
Salt as per taste
Green chillies – 4
Green peas – 1 cup
Sugar – 1 tsp

  • INSTRUCTIONS
  • To make Bengali Khichdi take a bowl.
  • Add rice Wash and soak for 30 mins.
  • Take a kadhai and Add moong dal and roast until golden brown.
  • After golden,Transfer into plate and let it cool.
  • Take a kadhai add Ghee/Oil and heat.
  • Add Cauliflower,Fry until golden.
  • After golden transfer into a plate.
  • Into same kadhai add Chopped Potato and fry until golden crisp.
  • After golden transfer into a plate.
  • Wash dal 2 times.
  • Remove excess water in dal and rice keep aside.
  • Take roughly Chopped Tomato,ginger,chillies and add into mixer jar and make fine paste.
  • Keep a pan add Ghee/Oil and melt.
  • Add Cloves,Cinamon stick,Green cardamom,Cumin seeds,Bay leaf,Dry Red chilli and saute.
  • Add Asafoetida,Turmeric powder,Chilli powder,Cumin powder and saute.
  • Add water and fry masala.
  • Add tomato paste and mix well and saute until oil releases.
  • Add soaked rice and Roasted dal and saute for 2 mins.
  • Add warm water(6 cups),Salt as per taste and mix well.
  • Close lid and cook for 5 mins.
  • Check after 5 mins,Add roasted cauliflower and potato and mix well.
  • Add Green chillies,Green peas,Sugar,Mix well,close lid and cook for 10 mins.
  • After 10 mins open lid and set consistency as per required.
  • Add garam masala & ghee,Close lid and keep aside for 2 mins.
  • Bengali Khichdi is ready to serve.Enjoy!!
