This recipe is the combination of Idli & vada which is soft & fluffy steamed cake made of sooji batter.It is very tasty & can be served with coconut chutney,sambhar & any of the chutney.It can be enjoyed without any chutney also as it is stuffed with potato. Many recipes can be made like Dosa,Uttapam,Appam & many others. Idlis are easily digestible.It is one of the healthiest protein packed breakfast from south Indian cuisine.

ठण्ड में दो बूंद तेल में सूजी का नया चटपटा नाश्ता जो न कभी देखा होगा न खाया होगा Stuffed Idli Recipe

Sooji / Semolina – 1 cup
Curd – 1 cup
Water – 3/4 cup
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Hing/Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Ginger,garlic,green chilli paste – 2 tsp
Boiled mashed Potato – 4
Salt as per taste
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
Finely Chopped Coriander
Green chillies
Oil for frying green chillies
Eno Fruit Salt – 1 sachet
Vada Pav garlic Chutney/Red chilli Garlic Chutney

  • To make Batata Vada Idly take a bowl.
  • Add Sooji / Semolina , curd and mix well.
  • Add water if required and prepare thick consistency batter.
  • Close lid and let it set for 10 mins.
  • Take a kadhai add oil and heat.
  • Add Mustard Seeds,Hing/Asafoetida,Ginger,garlic,green chilli paste and Saute for 1-2 mins.
  • Add Boiled mashed Potato and mix well.
  • Add Salt,Turmeric Powder and mix well.
  • Add Lemon Juice mix well.
  • Add Finely Chopped Coriander and mix well.
  • Turn off flame and transfer into a bowl and let it cool.
  • In a kadhai take oil and heat well.
  • Add green chillies and fry.
  • Take ball size mix and prepare patties.
  • Take Idly Mould,Grease with Oil.
  • Check batter and Add little water to adjust consistency.
  • Prepare Ribbon consistency Batter.
  • Add Eno Fruit Salt,Add little water to activate and mix gently.
  • Fill half of idly mould with Prepared batter.
  • Place Prepared Tikki.
  • Cover with Batter.
  • In the idly cooker add 1 glass water and boil.
  • Place idly stand in the cooker.
  • Close lid and steam for 8-10 mins on medium flame.
  • After 10 mins check.
  • Check with tooth pick if clean cooked perfectly.
  • Demould after its completely cooled.
  • Sprinkle some Garlic Chutney/Vada pav chutney.
  • Serve with fried green chillies.
  • Batata Vada Idly is ready to serve..Enjoy!!
