Materials
- Roasted Chickpeas – 150 gm
- Cashew – 1/2 cup
- Almonds – 1/2 cup
- Fox nuts – 1/2 cup
- Desiccated Coconut – 1/2 cup
- Cardamom Powder
- Nutmeg
- Saffron Strands
- Jaggery – 1 cup/300gm
- Water – 6 tbsp
- Ghee – 1 tsp
- Chopped Almonds
- Chopped Pistachio
Instructions
- Begin by taking 150 grams of roasted chana. Rub the chana with a cloth to remove the black skin.
- In a grinding jar, add the roasted chana along with 1/2 cup of fox nuts, and grind them into a fine powder.
- Transfer the prepared powder into a mixing bowl.
- Add 1/2 bowl of cashews and 1/2 bowl of almonds to the grinder, grind them into a fine powder, and transfer it to the same bowl.
- To the bowl, add 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut, a pinch of grated nutmeg, a few saffron strands, and mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Place a kadhai on medium flame and add 300 grams of crushed jaggery, 6 tablespoons of water, and 1 teaspoon of ghee. Melt the jaggery and cook it until it comes to a boil twice. Turn off the flame and set the syrup aside.
- In another kadhai, add the prepared powder mixture and roast it over medium flame until it becomes aromatic.
- Pour the prepared jaggery syrup into the roasted powder mixture and mix everything well. Cook the mixture until it thickens.
- Once the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan, turn off the flame and transfer it to a greased tray.
- Spread the mixture evenly in the tray and garnish it with chopped dry fruits. Let it set for 30 minutes.
- Your perfect Chana Gud Barfi is now ready to serve and enjoy!
